About ProSPER.Net
 
The Prosper.Net-Scopus Young Scientist Award in Sustainable Development is given annually to a young scientist or researcher, based in the Asia Pacific region, who has made significant contributions in the field of Sustainable Development.
 
For 2008/09 awards will be given in each of three areas: Business, Engineering and Technology, and Agriculture and Natural Resources

Eligibility
The award is open to those engaged in graduate education and research activities that emphasize sustainable development in any of the above three areas. Candidates are expected to be employed at institutions of higher education in the Asia-Pacific region (Excluding USA and Canada), and should be less than 40 years old as of 15 November 2008.

Evaluation
All received applications in each area will be evaluated by an international panel of three recognized experts in Sustainable Development in that area. The broad evaluation criteria would be as follows:
  • Number of citations and h-index
  • Number and quality of publications and patents
  • Documented social impact
Shortlisted candidates will be sponsored to present their work at a symposium on Sustainable Development to be held April 29 at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, as part of the judging process. Those who cannot attend may present their work by video conference or by submitting a video recording.

Winners
Winners will receive a cash award, certificate and plaque, and trip to the awards ceremony and press conference to be held at AIT the last week in May. The awards ceremony will be part of the ProSPER.Net symposium on sustainabilty issues in business school curricula. Names of winners will be widely publicized through a global press release.

Deadlines
Nominations and applications are open starting 15 November 2008 and will close at midnight of 23rd March 2009. Late submissions and incomplete applications will not be accepted. Results will be announced April/May 2009.

Candidates for the award can be put forth by nomination or direct application. All applications and/or nominations must be supported by two letters of recommendation
